Single Vineyard Tuerong Pinot Noir
Wine
Montalto Single Vineyard Tuerong Pinot Noir is an outstanding example of cool climate Pinot Noir. It is made with the best fruit from the Tuerong Block at the northern end of the Mornington Peninsula.
A warm site, at 30 metres elevation in clay loam soils, the grapes ripen early in the season. The result is a Pinot Noir known for its powerful, structured profile, lending itself perfectly to whole bunch fermentation.
About one third begins wild yeast fermentation as whole bunches, spending 10-14 days in open fermenters. The remainder is sorted, destemmed and soaked for fermentation.
After remaining on skins post ferment, the wine is pressed and racked to French oak for natural malolactic fermentation and 11 months of maturation.
Dark plum, Montalto Single Vineyard Tuerong Pinot Noir is highly aromatic and complex, saturated with dark fruit flavours that dissolve into a savoury finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
